Scherpenzeel, December 2021 – Private equity firm MKB Fonds from Amstelveen, is once again expanding in the market for ICT services. MKB Fonds took an interest in Technica ICT from Scherpenzeel, acquiring its eleventh participation in the ICT services sector.
Technica ICT is a broad range supplier of ICT solutions, mainly active in the central part of the Netherlands. The current director founded the predecessor of the company (R&M Elektro) in 1985 and expanded it to the current level through a combination of organic growth and additional acquisitions.
As a Solution Integrator, Technica ICT focuses on advice, implementation, and management of ICT environments. Because Technica ICT has focused on the disciplines of IT, Telephony and (Internet) Connectivity since its inception, it is able to offer high-quality solutions with appropriate services in today's world, in which all these aspects are increasingly coming together. Based on years of experience and expertise, Technica ICT knows better than anyone what is needed for a reliable, stable and secure ICT environment for every SME organization. Technica ICT focuses on customers in the SME sector and has a strong focus on customers with ten to several hundred workplaces.
The role of Cees van Maanen, founder and director of Technica ICT, will remain unchanged after the transaction. “Technica ICT started over 20 years ago as a group of technical guys and in fact we still are. Not inventors, but creators of smart solutions by using existing and proven technology, expertly advised, implemented and ultimately managed. Thanks to the collaboration with MKB Fonds and the other ICT companies in the portfolio of MKB Fonds, we can expand Technica ICT even further and make it permanent for the future”, says Cees van Maanen.
Cooperation
ICT is more than ever a crucial part of the business of almost all companies in all sectors of the economy. The size and complexity of ICT issues are also still increasing. This has led to a continuously growing demand for ICT services, in particular among SMEs and medium-sized organizations, which do not always have the opportunity to provide this independently. To respond to this, MKB Fonds quickly built a cluster under the name Futureproof Group, in which ten comparable ICT service providers work together. Together they realize a turnover of more than € 80 million with approximately 400 employees. With MKB Fonds as a new partner, Technica ICT benefits from the collaboration opportunities with Futureproof Group.
Consolidation in the Market
Emiel Havinga, partner at MKB Fonds explains: “In the fragmented market for ICT service providers, there is a clear trend towards further consolidation. We see that the need for group formation is great. By combining scale while retaining entrepreneurship and corporate cultures, we have been able to form a strong group of ICT companies that are excellently positioned to meet the future ICT challenges for a broad group of companies and organizations.” Thanks to the participation of MKB Fonds, Technica ICT and its customers benefit from the broad knowledge and experience within the ICT cluster, as well as from the other advantages that the scale entails.
